Course Begins At University Of Murcia With Adapted Face-To-Face Teaching

The University of Murcia (UMU) will start this Monday, September 6, the academic year with more than 30,000 undergraduate, master and doctoral students and under the guidelines set out in Contingency Plans 4, which contemplate adapted face-to-face teaching with a distance security in the one-meter classrooms and the rest of the measures to avoid contagion, sources from the educational institution reported in a statement.

These contingency plans, which can be consulted on the website of each faculty, affect the return to the presence of academic life. In practice, this means that each center, depending on the specific needs of their studies and subjects, has looked for alternatives so that, if a classroom cannot admit all the students enrolled within one meter, the development can be followed. classes through other methods in the same faculty.

These contingency plans contemplate the transition to regular presence as soon as the epidemiological situation allows it, something that will only be possible if the vaccination campaign continues to advance at the current rate and the relevant security measures are respected at the same level as during the past year. .

In the same way, if there were an increase in infections once the course started, the UMU has already demonstrated its ability to adapt to the circumstances that arise and would introduce, if necessary, the necessary changes so that teaching is maintained with the quality and excellence required in the safest possible work environment.

The health campus classroom opens its doors
One of the main novelties of this course is the opening of the classroom of the Campus of Health Sciences, located in the surroundings of the Virgen de la Arrixaca Hospital, which will be incorporated around a thousand students from all Nursing courses, fourth of Physiotherapy and second of Dentistry. These are added to the students from third to sixth of Medicine who were already studying at the Arrixaca Teaching Pavilion.

The opening of this classroom is one of the great milestones for the Campus of Health Sciences of the UMU and thanks to it this course will already study 2,000 students there. This opening is accompanied by the launch of the new 26c bus line, from the center of Murcia to the Health Campus.

In this sense, the University of Murcia has thanked the City Council for its interest in creating this line . To encourage its use, the UMU will assume the cost of the tickets next Monday until 9.30 am.

In addition, through the Vice-Rector’s Office for Students, bonuses will be raffled over the next few weeks. Members of the rectory team will make the first bus trip of the line with the students.

The earliest start of the course
Another of the novelties of this academic year is the start date, which is ahead of other years thanks to the change in the dates of the university entrance exams, whose extraordinary phase was held for the first time in the month July and not September, as had always been the case.

This calendar change has allowed the admission of new students to be completed in the month of July . This year, 6,810 students begin their university stage at the University of Murcia.

With regard to the academic offer, this course begins to teach two double degrees: Mathematics and Physics and Primary Education and Sciences of Physical Activity and Sports. With regard to master’s degrees, the joint master’s degrees in Criminology and Crime, Educational Psychology and Teacher Training are implemented; as well as the international master’s degree in Speech Therapy Intervention in Swallowing.
