Victoria Lee, a rising star in mixed martial arts, has died at the age 18 according to her family.
Hawaii was 3-0 in Pros MMAunde she fought all of the fights with ONE Championship, where Angela and Christian held the world titles.
Angela, Lee’s sister, confirmed on Saturday (7/7) that Lee, also known as “The Miracle,” had died on December 26th.
“On December 26th, 2022, our family went through something no family should have to go through…” Angela Lee wrote on Instagram. “This is so hard to say… Our very own Victoria has passed.
It came too soon and has ruined our family forever. We miss her. We miss her more than any other person in this world. Our family will never be again the same. It will never be the same.
“Victoria was the sweetest soul that ever lived. She was the best little sister anywhere in the world. […] We miss you so much, sister. You are more than you realize. We are all broken. Because we all had a piece you and those pieces were taken from us. It will never be again.
“We love you Victoria. Sprout, I love and cherish you. Till the end of time.”
Lee’s cause has not been revealed.
Meanwhile, ONE released its own statement, which read: “The ONE Championship Team is devastated by the tragic death of Victoria Lee. We send our heartfelt condolences to her family and friends at this difficult time.”
Chatri Sityodtong, President ONE, posted on Facebook: “My heart breaks at the passing of Victoria Lee. Victoria was 11 years when I first met her. As a martial artist, she was a natural leader. She also became a great human being. I will always remember how intelligent, thoughtful, and selfless she was beyond her years.
“Officially, she was a remarkable martial arts prodigy, but I could see that she was so much more than that. Victoria was a woman with the most pure heart and brilliant mind. She put others’ needs first. She wanted to give back to the world. I will never forget her.” Always Victoria for the beautiful and precious soul that she was.”
My last fight was in September 2021. Victoria Sousa defeated me via second round submission. Lee’s professional record was improved to 3-0 by the result. All of her wins were via finishes. Since then Hawaii has focused on graduating each high school and plans to return to the ring by 2023.
Christian Lee is Christian’s brother and holds the ONE lightweight title, while Angela is the promotion’s atomic welterweight champion.
