Robotic vacuum cleaners range in price from £250 to over £1,000. Although the Roomba i7 sits in the middle of the range, the technology is quite impressive. The Roomba i7 creates a map that you can edit on your smartphone to mark no-go areas and clean areas that require special attention. You can also use the app to send it to clean a certain area, or voice-command it.
It formed a reliable map of its surroundings and was faster and less “sticky”, according to our tests. It was quiet on hard floors (it is quieter than a desk fan), and it was impressively quiet. However, it did leave some grime on the first pass but it did clean it up.
The Version+ is a great option. It automatically returns to recharge and empties into a bag at its base station. They are easy to remove and dispose of, even though they can quickly fill up, especially in households with pets.
If we are being honest, robotic vacuums are still more a novelty than a necessity. But, with the discounts currently offered, this is the one to get. It updates its software automatically via wi-fi so it won’t get old.
