Ukraine warned Russia that Russia would launch a new offensive soon next year that could include a second attempt in Kyiv to seize its capital.
Multiple media reported that President Volodymyr Zelensky, Defense Minister Oleksiy Raznikov, and two other generals stated that Moscow’s new offensive could take place in January.
Ukrainian intelligence claimed that the push could be from the eastern region or neighboring Belarus. This could include another ground assault on Kyiv. Moscow was unable to capture the area early in the invasion.
The Economist quoted Mr Zaluzhny, saying: “The Russians have about 200,000 new soldiers. They will likely have another round at Kyiv, which I have no doubt.”
Although Mr Reznikov’s estimate was slightly different in the Guardian comments, his conclusion was the exact same.
“Second part of the mobilization, 150,000 roughly… doing at least three months to get ready. This means that they plan to launch the next wave of attacks in February, just like last year. This is their plan,” he said.
