Russell Crowe was profoundly affected by the death of Sydney’s beloved character, My Aunt Roslyn “Rosie” Whitaker.

Whitaker said that Whitaker’s news of his death this week affected his entire family.

He said The Daily Telegraph: “Whenever Rosie came to me, I would hug her and give her some money. Then I’d ask her about her day.”

Russell, 58 added that Whitaker asked Whitaker many times about his family and children with Danielle Spencer, Charles 18 and Tennyson 16, and said, “She was such a beautiful soul. Her hug was so deep. She will be missed.

Actor David Wenham (57) also shared a tribute via Wayside Chapel. He said, “I was surprised that couldn’t possibly be true, Rosie will have outlived all us.”

“Rosie is without a doubt the most well-known Potts Point resident for the past two decades.”

You made us laugh, cry, and think — sometimes all in the same day. My Aunt Rosie, a member of the Stolen Generation, had a lot to offer us. She often gave us lessons on the streets about life.

Only last month Russell opened up about the deathJohn, John’s beloved father, died in 2021.

Crowe spent the lockdown time with his father on the 400-hectare New South Wales farm that he bought in 1996, shortly after his blockbuster LA Confidential.

Speaking to the Metro, Russell said: “My dad passed away early in 2021. The most common conversation you have with people when you share this information is that if they’ve had the same kind of experience, with one of their parents going through, and they’re sorry, ‘If I just had another weekend or another dinner party or something.” In fact, I spent 12 months with my dad.

He continued, “Yeah, he had his issues, a little bit of an early start to this and early starts. It was a great experience to share. It’s not something you should do with an 85 year-old. After we did that, he said, “These people are going to tell you that was a bad thing. But I loved it to the blood!”
