Royal Mail was officially notified by the Communications Workers Union (CWU), and six new strike dates were confirmed for December.
Customers received an apology from the Postal Service, explaining that it had “well-developed contingency programs” but was unable to replace the daily efforts of its frontline workforce.
“We will do our best to keep the services running, however we regret that the planned strikes is likely to cause some disruption,” the company stated on the website.

Why are Royal Mail employees striking off?
Postal workers are currently on strike in protest over a long-running, ongoing dispute over wages.
Formerly, CWU General Secretary Dave Ward stated: “Posts are fighting for their lives against Uberisation Royal Mail and the ruination of their conditions.
“But 115,000 members will not accept this war over the livelihoods of their industries and their livelihoods.”
A Royal Mail spokesperson said: “On Monday 31 October, Royal Mail proposed a new pay-for-change offer to CWU of 9 per cent over two years, despite a loss of £219m in the first half of the year.

What does strike mean for delivery?
Royal Mail stated that strikes are possible and that staff would not deliver letters except those sent with special delivery. However, it could not guarantee their arrival.
It will also prioritize the delivery Covid test kits and prescriptions where possible.
Royal Mail stated that employees would not hand over the letters during a strike.

Will it have an impact on the Christmas period?
Royal Mail hasn’t confirmed or denied whether the strike would affect Christmas. However there are likely to six new strike dates in the lead-up to 25 Dec.
To avoid disruption, customers were urged to send their items as soon as possible before the strike dates.
