The WBA however, ordered Usyk to face-to-face challenger and regular title holder DuboisSouthpaw chose Fury’s next opponent as a result.
said coach Sergey Lapin Vegas insider said: “I think the WBA ordering Usyk to fight Daniel Dubois would not be a hindrance to the undisputed competition between Usyk and Tyson Fury, the fight we all want to see.
“All the promoters involved are currently obligated to find out who is the best in the heavyweight division at the earliest opportunity.
“Hopefully nothing will stand in the way of that fight happening, however, having the option to fight Dubois would be a backup plan in case the fight breaks down.
“But Daniel Dubois is not the fight boxing fans would like to see in 2023.”
Dubois, who was defending his WBA (regular heavyweight) title with A.J., retained it earlier this month. TKO victory in the third round over Kevin Llerena.
And before Dubois destroyed South Africa, Usyk’s promoter revealed that Triple D would be getting his next crackIn the unified heavyweight titles.
“We’re probably looking at Saudi Arabia,” Alexander Krasiuk told BetFred.
“We have a time period between February 18th and March 4th, 2023 in mind to book this fight.
“It all depends how Saturday ends. Fury can still win against him.” [Derek]Chisora could be injured or have broken bones, which could cause a longer wait to fight the undisputed champion.
“If something goes wrong we’ll likely look at our lower jaws, and Daniel Dubois comes first in line.”
A fight with Dubois may be possible, but Usyk is determined to unite the division against Fury.
Krasiuk said: “This is the only thing Usyk wants. He doesn’t want all the branches to be climbed, he wants to get to glory and to leave a legacy.
“This is the fight that most fans around the world long to see.
“No heavyweight has had four belts at the same time, so this is history in the making.
This fight is a must-win.
“If you are a man, and you respect your fans and you respect boxing, you have no excuse not to fight Usyk.
Everyone is on board. Queensberry promotions are onboard, Team Usyk has joined the board, and Usyk has also joined.
