The list was unveiled Friday (30 December) and recognizes the achievements of people from all walks of the UK.
QueenGuitarist May leads the group and was knighted by Really Good News. This means the rock legend will now be known as Sir Brian May or Sir Bree, as he suggested.
The 75-year-old man behind some of the most popular songs in pop music acknowledged that he feels a new responsibility to act in the country’s best interests and those of the rest of us.
The honor was given to the musician, astrophysicist, and animal welfare advocate. He told PA News Agency that he was shocked to be recognized for his contributions to music and philanthropy.
He said he was “excited” by the news and that he had been “pleasantly surprised” by it over the past few days.
He said, “I don’t believe I expected it because… I didn’t follow the lifestyle that I thought would lead me to a knighthood – I’ve been vocal in criticizing recent government to begin with.”
I realized that I was wrong about all this stuff. May, who was awarded the honour by the Queen in 2005, said, “It’s such an amazing surprise to be given this honour.”
May was also awarded an MBE by Countdown Star Riley for her efforts in raising awareness about the Holocaust and fighting anti-Semitism.
Riley, a television presenter and mathematician was honored for her efforts to Holocaust education as an avid campaigner.
The Oxford graduate of 36 years has voiced disapproval of Labor’s handling anti-Semitism allegations within the party, and of Jeremy Corbyn’s behaviour when he was leader.
Frank SkinnerHe was also awarded an MBE in recognition of his services to entertainment. He considers this “outstanding”.
Christopher Graham Collins, 65 years old, is a comedian and broadcaster. He claimed that he never told anyone about the award in case it was an “administration error.”
He added that he mainly deals with laughter and applause. They disappear very quickly.”
“So having a proper medal that you can keep and polish regularly feels (it) gave my career a sense of permanence that I love.”
Geoff, the football analyst Kamara, has been chosen as an MBE.
The 65-year old played for nine English professional clubs over a career that spanned 20 years. He was also the manager of Bradford and Stoke. However, he is now better known for his work as a Sky Sports analyst and presenter.
Camara’s AOS diagnosis was announced earlier this year, and there was a huge outpouring of support on social media.
Kamara has been awarded an MBE for his services in football, charity work and fighting racism.
For OBEs, Stephen GrahamHonored to be a Dramatic Artist.
Merseyside-born actor, who is 49 years old, has been recognized for his roles as American criminals and officers in Hollywood blockbusters. He has also enjoyed success in TV dramas during his three-decade career.
He starred with Brad Pitt and Jason Statham as Snatch in 2000. He also appeared in The Irishman in 2019, where he played real-life mobster Anthony Provenzano alongside Robert De Niro and Al Pacino.
Graham’s acting credits include Gangs Of New York and Boardwalk Empire. His most famous role is This Is England.
The Helping actor also thanked fellow This Is England star and Boiling Point actress Hannah Walters who helped him recover from a suicide attempt during his early twenties.
Additionally, the actor of mixed race spoke about the racial abuse he received on the streets and in Liverpool.
Yolanda Brown (saxophonist, broadcaster) was another person to receive an OBE in New Years honors. She said she was ‘excited, honored’ to be recognized by the BBC for her services to music education, broadcasting, and music.
David HarwoodHe was also awarded an OBE for raising awareness about racism and mental illness.
Ann Diamond, a journalist who campaigned against the death of the crib, joined the OBE club. She described being an OBE to be the “outstanding achievement” of all those who helped.
The broadcaster, aged 68, dedicated the achievement her son Sebastian. She added: “Today, I’m thinking about the parents, many whom I’ve met over the years and who have lost their children but never had the chance to participate in the campaign. as I did.
Janet Kaye, also known as Queen of Lovers Rock is one of the names on the New Year Honors List for music. She has received her MBE.
George Fenton, a composer who made wildlife documentaries for Sir David Attenborough’s, was awarded a CBE for his services to music. Julian Baird, the former chief executive at Theater UK and London Theater Association (Solt), has been given an OBE.
We also have a fashion designer to round out the package Sir Grayson Perry62, a well-known artist known for his cross-dressing, ceramic work, and textiles. He was awarded a Knight BA (Services to the Arts).
Dame Mary Quant, the designer widely credited for popularizing the mini-skirt, has been made a Member of The Order of Companions of Honor.
Noreen Reuls (the last remaining female member of the French Special Operations Executive section – also known as “Churchill’s Secret Army”), dedicated an MBE to her “comrades” who have since passed.
