Jens Scheuer doesn’t anticipate to “set the world ablaze” during his first year as Brighton Ladies’ boss.
The head coach of Bayern Munich is determined to make the Seagulls one of the most fearsome teams in the WSL.

Scheuer, whose appointment on a three-and-a-half-year contract was announced this week, will oversee his first match when playing Albion. lesterTheir first match in 2023.
Their conflict with the Foxes is one of five WSL Games that take places on Sunday, January 15, 2015 when the weekend’s top events return.
The challenge of helping his team climb up the table is what the coach enjoys. BrightonCurrently, the Foxes are currently one place and seven points behind them in the league.
The Albion chief said: “In two weeks, you can’t change everything.
“For me, my main goal is to implement a winning culture and real hunger on the pitch.
“We can decide who we want to be. Do we want to be nice, nice (team), who give three points each to our opponent?
Or, we will fight for the points with all we have and with all that is allowed on the field.
My method is to choose my second method.
“This is to support my team, motivate and keep them hungry.
“The first (training) session I saw was good and the first meeting we had 10 minutes ago was good too.
“I looked into the eyes of the girls and thought they would be with me,”
Scheuer responded to a question about the culture he hopes to instill: “We shouldn’t be complacent about getting (narrowly), 2-1 or against Chelsea or Arsenal.
“That’s not my goal. My goal is not to bring big teams into conflict with us, but to steal points.
“The best feeling comes when (our enemies) say “Oh my god, we have to get to Brighton!” and they are not happy to play against us because we are aggressive players.
“That’s what I aim for on and off the field.
“I want us all to be honest and have good manners. When you wear the shirt, it shows that your professionalism is evident.
“I’m certain with that culture at the club and these people at club, we will make it happen,”
Scheuer’s arrival comes just seven months after Brighton received their highest ever WSL score.
Hope Powell, the former coach, placed sixth in the 2020-21 season.
It was also a season in which the club became the only team to win the First Division against eventual champions Chelsea with a 2–1 victory at Kingsmeadow.
The club’s fortunes so far have been mixed on the pitch, with Brighton scoring two wins in their eight first matches in World First Division.
The results included an 8–0 loss at home to Tottenham on 30 October, followed by Powell’s retreat from the role.
However, the team has since rebounded, recording two wins and a draw in all competitions under the temporary stewardship of caretaker manager Aimé Merricks.
Scheuer believes that the Merricks and Brighton coaching teams will be essential for the future.
The Seagulls coach added, “Amy has helped me a lot these past three days.
“We have had many meetings together, her experience at the club has been top-notch.

“She’s been here a very long time and knows how things work here.
“For me, it’s a big help. I’m not going be a one man show.
“I’m part the coaching staff, and she is a big role for me, but the other guys are also a huge part.”
Fifteen years before moving to the WSL, Scheuer started his coaching career at the age of thirty as player-coach for the German team FC Bötzingen.
He then coached fifth-division club Bahlinger for a season before returning to Bützingen in 2012.
When he became Freiburg’s centre-back, he turned his attention to women’s football management.
In 2019, he was appointed the head coach for Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich Frauen.
He led the four-time Bundesliga champions in their fourth top-flight title in 2020-21.
During this period, the team also reached semi-finals at the UEFA Champions League, where it lost to Chelsea.
Scheuer was appointed The Seagulls to be the first German to lead a WSL team since its inception in 2011.
The coach from Brighton said, “It’s both an honour and a pleasure to serve as the first German coach at an English women’s soccer club.”
“The club’s project is the biggest reason I’m here and I had a great conversation with the club owner, and all of the management.
“From the first conversation we had together, I spoke to my agent, and asked her to not do anything wrong.
“I want to come to this place and work with these guys. I believe we had a really great connection.
Albion fans might expect Brighton to grow with the opening of the winter transfer window on January 1.
Scheuer disclosed Friday that he has only eight players in training because of injury and illness.
The club saw the departure of 10 players, eight of whom were part of the first team.
Maya Le Tissier (Emma Koivisto), Aileen Whelan, Eli Brazil and Aileen Whelan were among those who left, with the quartet moving to Manchester United and Liverpool, Leicester, Leicester and Tottenham.
Scheuer said that Brighton will be careful about any work they do during the January transfer window.

Seagulls boss said: “We have do something for the team, but it has to make sense that we sign a player.”
“We need to be careful when selecting new players. You have to choose smartly and well, because every new player can pose a problem.
“We will take our times choosing the right player to Brighton with the quality of the club and the mentality of the club.”
