Original dramas are ordered each year with a seasonal theme. Unfortunately, Christmas Carol Sky Max is not one of its most popular offerings.

The idea of modernizing A Christmas Carol is good, even down to the title. Carol Mackay, portrayed by Suran JonesHe is the miserly president of a company that makes Christmas cheap. In true Gerald Ratner fashion she admits that her products were rubbish. It’s part and parcel of the business model, you know: making things so inexpensive they crumble, which means consumers must buy them again next year.

Carol is about to sell the business to some Americans for £100m, but with hours to go before the big announcement that she has been visited by the ghosts of Christmas past and present is still to come. Ghosts represent the past in some of the most creative scenes in drama. Eric Morecambe and Ernie Wise. Jonty Stevens and Ian Ashpitel are brilliant as their characters. Stephens as eccentric Eric. Carol was roped into Angela Rippon’s dance routine, and they delivered some of the best lines.”).
