Man Dies While Rescuing His 9 And 12 Years Daughters In Portugal

A man dies while trying to rescue his two daughters aged 9 and 12 on a beach in Portugal.

A 45-year-old British man died Thursday while trying to save his two daughters, ages 9 and 12, after they were washed away on a beach in Portugal, Sky News reports .

The man was in cardiac arrest when surfers pulled him out of the waters of the Atlantic Ocean.

Despite the fact that a nurse who was on the beach spent almost an hour trying to save him, he was pronounced dead in the same place, Calada beach, in Encarnaçao (center of the country) shortly after 2:00 p.m. on Thursday.

According to eyewitnesses, his daughters, aged 9 and 12, suffered minor injuries and were reportedly involved in difficulties due to a strong current when bathing.

The minors were taken to Hospital Santa María de Lisboa , which is an hour’s drive from Calada beach.

The man was a Dubai-born citizen traveling with a British passport, according to the Portuguese newspaper Correio da Manha. A UK Foreign Office spokesperson told Sky News: “We are supporting the family of a British man who has sadly drowned in Portugal . Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones.”
