[Re: Housing Associations have no accountability and a 2-year-old has paid the price, Nov 23]

London currently has 56,500 homeless people. 75% of those are families with young children. This number will almost double in the next 12 months due to rising living costs and a decrease of suitable, temporary housing.

A further 2.8 million people live sub-standard housing in the UK. Low can refer to dangerous, cold, turbulent, or erratic facilities/leaks, which is often discussed in the news.

We must reach more people who are homeless in the country, and do so faster than ever before. We must also invest in improving the quality of our homes to make them livable.

The private sector can only help you quickly access people and property.

Every owner, investor, and developer across the country should think about how they can help. Partnerships with the public sector are a good place to start.

Public-private partnerships could play a significant role in this. Capital Letters, a London-based non-profit that matches people with suitable housing, is an example. With the right technology, provided by the private sector, they’ve freed up resources to focus on this task—getting roofs over people’s heads.
