
Jeff Beck, one the greatest rock guitarists ever, has died at the age 78.
Grammy Award-winning musician, who rose to fame with The Yardbirds, went on to lead Beck, Bogert & Appice, and then the Jeff Beck Group.
His family stated that Beck, who had contracted bacterial meningitis, died peacefully on Tuesday.
Beck is ranked in the top five Rolling Stone’s 100 Greatest Guitarists. He has been called “guitarist to guitarist”.
A statement was posted to the musician’s Twitter page: “On behalf his family, we share Jeff Beck’s news with deep and profound sorrow.
“After suddenly contracting bacterial meningitis, he passed away peacefully yesterday.
“His family is asking to be kept private while they grieve for this terrible loss.”
