The report cites four examples of open-source research, including one leader of a Prevent funded civil society organization that made public statements “in support and favor” of the Taliban.

It has called Islamist militant groups banned by the UK “terrorist” or “legitimate resistance group”, and said that Muslim members of the armed force should refuse to obey orders. She also stated that the legal prohibition obligation threatened “Muslim McCandists'” “hunting.”

The second group was home to Islamist leaders who were openly hostile to liberal Muslims and Muslim minorities. A third founder supported the views of an organization that hosts extremist speakers. The fourth group had prominent employees and figures linked to Islamist network.

According to the report, “The bans allow most Muslims in this country not to react when they give legitimacy or influence to those who support Islamic narratives.”

“It is true that Prevent is increasingly concerned about the growing threat from the far right. But the facts clearly show that the deadliest threat in the past 20 years has come from Islamists, and that threat remains,” the report says.

He warns against a concerted campaign by “a few Muslim groups to undermine the prevention program” and “stir up grievances towards the scheme between British Muslims.”

A spokesperson for Downing Street stated that Prevent is still a vital tool for protection and early intervention. Mr. Shawcross declined comment.
