Jordan Nobbs spent a long time as an Arsenal player. The Women’s Premier League was not even established when she moved from Sunderland to Arsenal. After 13 years of playing for Arsenal, Nobbs’s move to Aston Villa on an 18-month contract was a significant change for Nobbs, as well as Villa, Arsenal and the Women’s Football League. It will also be a major moment for the Lionesses. The 30-year-old playmaker said that she signed Villa because she wanted the best chance of being able to return to England.
Nobbs made 69 appearances for her nation, but has only participated in three of Sarina Wigmann’s 26 matches so far as head of the Lionesses. Nobbs also has only one start for England in the past 21 months, due to injuries and a decline in the pecking. With the World Cup approaching, and the grueling injuries that forced her to miss the 2019 tournament and limited her participation in 2015 World Cup, Nobbs is determined to resurrect her football career.
It will be difficult for you to get back into England’s squad.
“When I was leaving Arsenal I wanted to stay in England,” says Nobbs, in an exclusive interview with Telegraph Sport. When asked why, she replied: “For my career in England.
“I don’t feel ashamed to say that I want to be back in the team. I know that I need to get more game time. It’s going to be difficult to get on this team. However, I want to be my best self.
“I’m proud of my career achievements, but I get frustrated when I feel like I haven’t played.” [much]I believe that every player needs consistency, regardless of whether injuries or not being selected at Arsenal to play in the past year or two.
“It’s difficult to be your best, and the best version of yourself, when you’re on or off the team. If you change positions as I did, I think you can see a different version of myself again with consistency and play time.
“It won’t happen after one match, it will take some effort, but I’m here to work hard at Villa.”
