Heathrow Airport has stated that it will not need to have any capacity caps for Christmas. The West London hub continues its collaboration with airlines to ensure a smoother operation during peak periods.

“We have worked with the airlines and their ground services providers to prepare for Christmas rush, and have a good plan, that will not require any maximum capability,” the airport said today in a statement.

John Holland Kaye, CEO, stated that all stakeholders are working together to ensure that “everyone can reunite with their loved ones at Christmas”.

The airport, which had 5.9 million passengers last October after regaining its position as Europe’s busiest terminal, made headlines last month when the airport announced that it was reviewing options to manage capacity. This reopened a long-running dispute among airline customers.

Sir Tim Clark, the chief executive of Emirates Airlines, called for John Holland Kaye’s resignation. He claimed that he was “the wrong person for the job”.

Initial restrictions on passengers at Heathrow Airport meant that airlines had to halt flights. The limit was increased to 100,000 passengers in the summer. It was later extended to October 29.

Virgin Atlantic President Shay Weiss declared last week that it was better for Heathrow to be ready for peak periods.

He stated, “There is enough preparation time to prepare for winter’s peak.” city in the morning

“We plan to travel and serve passengers and expect Heathrow do the exact same.”

City AM reached out to British Airways’ commercial department for comment.
