Stars from both the silver and gold screen attend a BAFTA Headquarters meeting to select the EE Rising Star shortlist for the 2023 EE BAFTA Film Awards. Hayley Atwell (Captain America, The First Avenger) was nominated for the EE Rising Star Award at the 2023 EE BAFTA Film Awards. Joe Cole (Gangs of London & Peaky Blinders) was also nominated for a BAFTA Award. Jason Flemyng (Boiling point and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button) along with a host of industry experts were shortlisted for the EE Rising Star Award. It is the only EE BAFTA Film Awards category that has been voted for by the British public, and it is now in its 18th anniversary. Past winners of the EE Rising Star Award are a celebration of the emerging talents in the film industry. They have gone on to win some of the most prestigious awards in film and have become household names. James McAvoy and Eva Green are among the past winners. They also include Will Poulter, Jack O’Connell and John Boyega. Lashana Lynch was the winner. The shortlist for EE Rising Star Award is announced in January 2023. At that point, public voting will open to all UK residents at ee.co.uk/BAFTA.
