Eric Ten Hag warned Manchester UnitedSuperstar Alejandro Garnacho must keep the right attitude in order to break into his first team regularly.
The 18-year old striker was called off the bench during the second half United’s Carabao Cup match Aston VillaTo help win a good victory after Ole Watkins’ goal of homeowners being left behind.
Anthony Martial Marcus RashfordScott McTominay, Bruno Fernandes, and Scott McTominay scored assists for Garnacho’s impressive half hour performance as United won 4-2.
Villa was intimidated when the young international from Argentina drove left-on-left, finding his teammates by swiping around the penalty area.
Ten Hag did not call Garnacho earlier this season due to concerns about his status on United’s preseason tour.
These issues have been overcome and the teenager is now showing signs that the United boss can challenge him to offer another convincing option to Ten Hag.
“I think it was good that when he showed up he also showed a performance that made an impact in the match,” said Ten Hag. “Pretty clear, with two passes, some good dribbles, he rushes back, but also some things he has to improve. Scott McTominay is not the one who should be aiming for the long ball. Instead, he should aim for the second ball.
“So, he still has some things to learn, but obviously we’re really happy with him development, with tonight’s performance and the contribution he can make to this team.
Could he play a regular role in the organization? It all depends on how he approaches it and what his attitude is. If he continues to act with that attitude, then that is possible.
It is possible because he has an attitude that he wants improvement every day and makes the right lifestyle changes.
“As you can see, he has abilities that contribute to offensive football, he has something that he can break and open up a really cohesive defensive line.
I believe all teams that want to attack want half of their opponent. They need players like them to outpace them.
He can also make the right choices in the final decision. It all depends on his behavior. He can be defensive, disciplined and do what is right.
