Private equity powerhouse Bridgepoint Group has reportedly noticed the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).
The UK private equity firm has offered £400m to bring The Hundred under its wing, Sky News first reported today.
According to the report Bridgepoint had suggested buying a 75 per cent stake in The Hundred. This would allow millions to be injected into English cricket.
One source claimed that the move could be a “game changer” and noted that it was likely to receive widespread support from county chiefs.
Hundred were launched last year after a delay of 12 months due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Each of the 18 provincial governments that make up this sport will get a new set of funds, just as the country enters into recession.
Bridgepoint and the ECB declined to comment when we reached them. Am city
