Representatives of Ms. VivienneWestwood announced that she died peacefully surrounded today by her family in Clapham (south London), in a statement.
Husband and creative partner Andreas Korthaler, 81, said: “I will continue to have Vivian in my heart.
“We worked until the end and it gave a lot to me to go on with.
“Thank you, my dear.”
Michelle Donnellan, Culture Secretary, paid tribute to Dame Vivienne, writing on Twitter: “Sad Day, Vivienne was and will continue being an iconic figure in British Fashion.”
“Her punk style rewrote the rule book of the 1970s and she was widely admired for how she stuck to her own values throughout her life.”
