A distraught mother and father of a 22-month old girl have spoken out to say that their daughter was found dead just hours after she was brought home from the hospital.
Little Hailey Thompson was diagnosed as having a virus on December 18. Her family was advised to continue giving her fluids, paracetamol, and antibiotics.
Chris Thompson, 32, was her father, and Ebola Adams, 35, were her parents. They found her unresponsive in her bedroom the next morning.
Chris performed CPR and the baby was taken by the paramedics to Wigan Infirmary. Unfortunately, she died despite their best efforts.
After Hayley’s parents complained that Hayley was not being taken seriously, an investigation has been opened.
Chris, from Wigan, GTR Manchester, said: “We can’t believe we’ve lost our little girl.
It happened so quickly. Something within her body held her.
“When we found her at 5.30am on a Monday, she was lying in the exact same position I had seen her in when I went to bed in the middle of the night, only her skin was stiff and discolored.
“It was a horrible sight that will haunt and haunt me for the rest my life.
“We knew in our hearts that she was gone, but I called 999 and screamed into the phone that our daughter was dying, so they had me do CPR until the paramedics arrived for a quick response.
“But it was not able to revive her, and she was declared dead at the hospital.”

Hailey began having a runny nose and coughing on December 7. She was taken to the doctor, who prescribed antibiotics. However, Hailey stopped taking them due an allergic reaction.
A week later, she was referred to another doctor. There, she was told that she had a viral illness and that she needed Calpol instead.
After only one day, she was well enough for her to run, eat and drink well. She went to sleep at 6.30pm.
Chris went to check on his daughter at 11pm. His daughter was panting so Chris immediately called 999. They said that an ambulance would be there in no time.
It didn’t arrive 20 minutes later. 111 informed him that it would take two hours. He drove Healy to A&E where they waited for more than five hours before finally checking her out.
Hayley’s blood pressure was checked by the doctor, but she couldn’t find her tonsils. She was told to go home by her family, and she went straight to bed.
Her parents were instructed to keep her hydrated, to continue taking Calpol, and to send her back to A&E if she doesn’t improve within three days.
She woke up at noon to cough, runny nose, and was “completely abnormal”.
Hayley was finally put to sleep at 6.15pm, 18 December. Chris noticed that Hayley was panting again, though not as intensely as before.
The couple made a shocking discovery less than six hours later.
The Wigan Infirmary was having its busiest day ever on Sunday 18. The department later declared it a’serious event’.
Chris and Ebola want to know why they didn’t take blood samples when they took Hailey to the hospital.
The couple also stated that she refused to allow them to examine her tonsils because she was unable to swallow.
Chris and Iboulia have been instructed to take Hailey home to keep her hydrated. If Hailey doesn’t improve within three days, she will need to be sent back to A&E.
Tragically, however the young man died within 24 hours.
Chris said: “We want answers. Chris said: “We want answers.
“And why was she not tested for Strep A, scarlet fever, or Covid?”
The couple will have to wait until December 28 for an autopsy. Police have provided details to the coroner.
A spokesperson for the Wrightington Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust stated that Hayley’s family is in our thoughts and condolences at this time.
“We are aware and sensitive to the concerns of the family. We are currently awaiting more information to help us understand further.”
