Jeremy Hunt is a consultant that has helped companies drive regional growth by investing in travel and tourist.
BusinessLDN, an advocacy group, has called for VAT-free shopping for international visitors. They also requested the intensification of Border Force personnel to speed queues at airports and reduce visa requirements for low-risk visitors like children.
Taxpayers will not be charged an additional cost for the measures, which activists believe should be included in this week’s budget.
By attracting tourists to visit the wider country and not just London, the measures will unlock £1.3 billion in regional growth.
Chief Executive John Dickey stated that London and the South East are the main entrance to the UK. Then, we must better distribute visitors.
These are low-cost, or even free, measures that will increase visitor arrivals and spread growth across the country. They will also show Britain is open to business.
Dickey’s comments mirrored Mark Tanzer’s, chief executive of ABTA tourism trade authority, who lobbied for the government to ensure that the travel industry can “recover, thrive”.
“Having the right tax and policy framework will allow travel businesses to continue to build on a decent Summer, paving way for a robust recover, which should support employment, contributions to Treasury and the wider economic recovery in the UK.” Tanzer said Friday.
For comment, the Department of the Treasury (and the Department of Settlement) were contacted.
