A woman went into labor during Buffalo’s huge blizzard and delivered her baby at home thanks to the Doulas’ assistance via video chat.
Erica Thomas started experiencing contractions two days prior to Christmas in her New York City upstate home. She went into emergency mode during a storm and was forced to leave.
Davonne Thomas, her husband said that snow had piled up half-way over Thomas’s door, making it impossible for them both to leave and go to hospital. CNN. Davon called 911. The dispatchers told Davon they would send an emergency vehicle. But, later, they said that they couldn’t get to their home.
Davon quickly realized they would have no choice but to deliver the baby at their home. He called his friend Raymonda Reynolds, who posted the couple’s request on the Buffalo Facebook group. Raymonda Reynolds, a doula, offered her help and sat down with Davon to talk through the steps.

On Christmas Day, Erica Share a photoDevynn Brielle was born to Thomas and Thomas. She was born at 3.31 p.m. on Christmas Eve.
Reynolds claimed that she could hear Erica’s labor and told CNN to “take deep breathes.”
She said, “I was trying keep them calm and reassured them.”
Reynolds also added Eva Blackburn, a fellow doula and nurse, to the call. “She brought a little more comfort with a medical background.”
Davonne was advised by the doulas to use a flashlight at 3:00 p.m. to view the baby.
“Child Coronation!” Erica screamed at the moment.
Davonne wraps Erica in towels and pushes her to the floor. Then, Davonne yells “Here she comes!”
The two states commanded the couple to cut their umbilical cord. They also instructed them on what to do after childbirth.
Davon stated, “I couldn’t do it without you.” “It was so comforting that they were there.”
