Britons face further disruption this weekend before Christmas, as rail workers strike their last round.

RMT union members will stage the second day of the strike, which will affect most train services.

Network Rail advised people to not travel on trains unless absolutely necessary.

The UK’s hospitality sector will suffer from the latest strikes. Normally, it is expected to make some the best acquisitions of this year.

It will also disrupt the travel plans of millions to visit family members and friends across the nation.

Saturday marks the fourth day in a row of strikes and the 12th day since RMT voted for strike action in the summer.

Thousands upon thousands of rail workers are striking this week, on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Friday, amid a long-running dispute regarding jobs, wages, terms, and conditions.

Disruption can also be expected on Sunday, with morning services beginning later.

Railroad workers pushed for wage increases to meet the rising cost of living, and to improve their working conditions.

Rail bosses disagree and argue that companies need to save money after the pandemic. Reforms must be approved to withstand wage rises and railway modernization.

RMT is involved with Network Rail – where its approximately 20,000 signaling, maintenance and support workers are represented – and Rail Delivery Group – which represents a similar number in 14 train companies.

The next RMT beats will be held from 6pm on Christmas Eve to 6am on Dec 27th. There will also be more in January.
