A leading energy specialist suggests that the Brits need more information about heat pumps and their potential cost savings if they want to replace gas boilers on large scale.
Slingshot Power SystemsThe main barrier to heat pump installations according to the European Society of Civil Engineers (ESC) is the perceived turbulence caused by the heat pump installation.
This was the report of 47 percent who were questioned by ESC’s “Home Survey and Installation Report”, but decided not to proceed with a heating pump installation.
The government plans to install 600,000.00 heat pumps annually by 2028. It is seeking ways to encourage the industry towards this goal.
ESC concluded customers will be more comfortable if they are given a detailed overview of the design and the installation journey from the beginning. It also gives them an easy-to-understand summary and facts about their property.
It claimed that heat pumps were a popular choice in Britain with over 8,800 households applying to be part of the British government. Electrothermal conduction (EoH) project.
This led to the installation of 742 heat pump totals.
The demonstration project was funded by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy. It evaluates the technical and pragmatic feasibility of mass deployment of heat pump in British homes and the limitations.
Guy Newey, CEO of ECS, said: “To reach the goal, we will need to innovate to make the transition to a heat pump as smooth a journey as possible for consumers; to lower installation costs; and to provide a better heating experience for consumers.
“From our own work, we feel this will require the sector to translate complexity into easy-to-digest, consumer-friendly offerings – such as bundling net-zero products such as heat pumps into energy tariffs – to help customers retrofit their homes. Any low-carbon heating option must be as good as or better. It is an alternative if we are to pursue the scale and pace that we need to achieve our net zero goals.”
