President Joe Biden and British Prime Minster Rishi Sunak attended the Leaders’ meeting at the G20 Summit

After Rishi and Joe Biden made a historic deal yesterday, the United States intends to double its gas exports next year to Britain.

Biden has stated that he wants the US send at least 9 Billion cubic meters of LNG to the UK by 2023. This would provide enough power to power millions of homes.

To achieve this goal, the new UK-US Energy Security and Affordability Partnership will see both nations “proactively identify and solve any issues faced by importers and exporters”.

It comes as the UK faces possible power shortages in the winter, and prices are expected to peak in 2023.

No. No.

The White House stated that it would create the “enabling regulatory environment” necessary to achieve the goal.

Sunak stated that “Together, the UK and US will ensure the global price for energy and the security and reliability of our national supply cannot again be manipulated with the whims a failed regime.”

“We have the natural resources, industry and innovative thinking we need to create a better, freer system and accelerate a clean energy transition. This partnership will lower prices for British consumers and help end Europe’s dependence on Russian energy once and for all.”

Sunak also announced a new Energy Efficiency Task Force which will seek to reduce the UK’s energy consumption from industry and buildings by 15% by 2030, compared to 2021 levels.
