Doddie, who lost his battle with Motor Neuron Disease earlier this month, is the first to be remembered by the presenters. Burrow credits him with inspiring Burrow to speak up and raise awareness.

In addition to his work, Borough is supported by Kevin Sinfield, the defense coach for the England rugby union team, who has raised over £7m for MND charities.

I have a guardian angel that takes care of my needs. It brings hope into people’s lives.

I am determined to improve my life and look at all the reasons why I live.

Burrow joins his former bandmates, close friends, and other members of the MND community on stage. He declares that he is “totally overwhelmed by this award.”

He accepts Weir’s award, before adding:

Kevin Seinfeld inspires me. His goal is to make impossible possible.

The BBC announced then that it would present a Special Sports Person of the Year award for Kevin Sinfield in recognition of his extraordinary work in raising money and awareness about MND.

Hamish Ware’s father presents the award. Seinfeld is visibly moved by it and has difficulty speaking.
