Tottenham Hotspur

Hugo Lloris – 4. Nketiah makes a great stop, but then he drops into his own net. This type of error is not uncommon for him. Although it wasn’t a foul for the second, it wasn’t the best goalkeeper. I stopped two on the corner, but it was expensive to view everything.

Christian Romero – 6. Although he might be criticized for his aggressiveness during matches, he might be more successful if his teammates do the same. Some good interceptions at the back, but also reserved.

Eric Dier – 5. While he made some good defensive plays in the first half, with his team in control of the game, mainly passes, headers, and pressured headers, there was not enough organization or protection to provide another unit for Tottenham. Dyer must be the focal point of the trio. They lost more when they switched to a back-four.

Clement Lenglet – 4. Another poor outing. He did not provide any type of physicality or pace to stop Arsenal’s attacking lines from entering dangerous areas.

Matt Doherty – 4. It was a very difficult outing. Martinelli’s speed was too much. He couldn’t get past the deep areas for most, which gave Spurs some breathing room. It was a decent cross, but it wasn’t enough.

Pierre-Emile Højbjerg – 5. Odegaard often overtook him, leaving the Arsenal pair free to chase after the Norwegian full back. He didn’t provide enough motivation and gave away the ball a lot with his long passes.

Pape Sarr – 5 He was able to get through the first part of the match but didn’t give up. He kept fighting and made no mistakes. This was the first match of the league for the team.

Ryan Sessegnon – 5. He was terrible defensively against Saka in half one and couldn’t take the win. He had a great opportunity to score, but his shot was saved.

Dejan Kulusevski – 7. He had a good take-out and ran into the penalty box in the second half. However, he was inconsistent with his passing and eventually faded when Spurs needed a big finish.

Harry Kane – 7. The only true creative center of the team. He missed some good passes into the channels and had an offhand header. A fierce shot was saved but it lacked great quality.

Son Heung-min – 5. He should have been able to make even with one to one, but he was forced to sit out for long periods. Even though his team was leading, he was mostly on the sidelines during the second half.

Arsenal

Aaron Ramsdale 8. After the opener, Son saved well. Kane then saved again and Sessegnon followed quickly by the restart. It is very simple to stop the shot. This tells you how well the others are doing.

Ben White – 7. Calm in terms building play, but very solid for most of the time, not often bothered in larger areas by Son or Sejon.

William Saliba – 8. He was strong and able to stand up to Kane’s physical demands.

Gabriel Magalhaes – 8. Gabriel Magalhaes – 8. It is a perfect pairing for the majority, which is what is most important.

Oleksandr Zinchenko – 5. Kulusevski was easily the weakest link in the team from a defensive perspective. He also received the most dangerous deliveries from his side.

Thomas Partey – 7. With a powerful shot, he almost broke the frame. He was able to escape the blatant yellow for handball in the first match of the season. He covered the deep areas when he was required and kept the ball moving in offensive third.
