After losing to Aliona Bolsova, Heather Watson was Britain’s worst victim in an Australian Open qualifier.
Watson, seeded at No. 5 in Britain lost 7-6 (7-4), and 6-3 to his Spanish opponent Bolsova. The British Sunai Kartal, and Paul Job, both fell after disappointing results in Melbourne.
After she won the second set, Kartal led America’s Elisabeth Mandlik into a tiebreaker. She lost 6-4, 6-1, 3-6.
After only forcing the decider at the end to surrender, Jubb’s match against Dalibor Vrcina of the Czech Republic followed a pattern similar to that of the Czech Republic’s Jubb 6-3, 1-6 and 6-4.
The list of high-profile withdrawals at this year’s Australian Open continues growing, with organizers confirming Naomi Osaka, two-time champion, will not be playing in Melbourne.

Osaka’s absence is in addition to the absences of world number one Carlos Alcaraz, and Venus Williams, who were both injured.
Alcaraz won his first US Open singles title, in September. He revealed that he had suffered a muscle injuryDuring pre-season training, in his right leg.
This latest injury was very unfortunate timing and deprives the Australian Open one of its most exciting drawcards.
Rafael Nadal, a compatriot of Alcaraz, will be the first seed to defend his title in Melbourne Park’s absence.
Williams had to withdraw following an injury sustained at a warmup tournament in New Zealand.
The seven-time major singles champion was originally granted a wildcard, but he suffered an injury at the ASB Classic in Auckland. The Wildcard position for the 42-year old has been given to Australian World No. 173 Kim Pearl.
