The shadow cabinet minister stated:epidemic of violenceHis top priority is to meet women.
He stated that “Nearly one in 100 reported rapes leads directly to a conviction.” Gloria Di Piero on GB News.
“This practically decriminalizes rape in my opinion. And if you are one of those few women — and it always will be women — survivors of rape who make it to court, the average wait is three years.
“It is shocking to be the victim of such a crime.”
Reid stated that he wants specialized courts that reduce the waiting time to six months in order to give victims the confidence that the criminal justice systems is on their side.
Croydon North MP, also spoke about his own crime experiences and revealed how he was knife attacked 20 years ago.
Reid has so far stated that he cannot wear headphones on the streets due to fear of being attacked again.
He was returning from Brixton’s barbecue when two men leapt out from behind the wall.
Reed said that one of them grabbed Reed and held a knife to his neck. The other, however, crept into Reed’s pockets and grabbed his bag.
Reed said, “This gave us a real insight into the horror of being victims of a potentially very violent crime.”
