Martin LewisHis helpful tips will help you stay warm this winter without heating.

The Money saving expertThis is the UK’s ninth largest group of adults. Cost of livingIt rose due to higher food and energy prices.

In an episode of his ITV Show from November Martin Lewis Financial PresentationLewis stated that his team researched ways to “warm someone, not a house.”

Lewis said that it was “really frustrating” because of the rising energy prices and the inability of some people to turn on central heat.

“It also turns out that the research we did has been really helpful, not just for people in desperate situations…but for many who just want to reduce their central heating.

“There are many things you can do to layer clothes effectively, but what really made a difference was little power tools to heat the person up.”

Lewis said that his team discovered a number inexpensive and cost-effective electrical products, including hand warmers and warm gloves, as well as an electric jacket and heated insoles.

Some items can be as low as 1p an hour, based on a 34p/kw rate.

The heated glove costs about £5, and is USB powered. Lewis claimed that jogging costs as low as a penny an hr.

He also recommended microwaving wheatgrass bags (about £4) and hot water bottles (about £5).

Lewis shared his personal trick: He advised wrapping him up in a sleepingbag and placing a hot bottle inside while sitting at home. This traps heat, and keeps you warm for longer.

A sack full of wheat costs around 1p an an hour, while a bottle water costs around 7p an an hour.

Lewis noted that although electric gilets can be expensive to buy (costing around £50), they can be run for about an hour and are effective at keeping the whole body warm.

Lewis also encourages the audience during the program to check their thermostat settings in the “One Degree Challenge”.

He stated that 18 degrees Celsius is the recommended temperature for healthy adults according to the World Health Organization.

Lewis stated, “It’s not my job to tell people what to do. But I would like for you to try to reduce your thermostat by one degree.” Lewis added that most people have their thermostats set at 21 degrees.

Lewis stated, “It can reduce your heating bill by about 10 percent.”
