After receiving a better pay offer, the London bus drivers’ strike was called off
After workers accepted a better payment offer, a London industry action that involved more than 2,000 bus drivers was scrapped.
Unite announced that Metroline’s members have accepted a 11% increase in their pay. This union claimed was a “significant improvement for drivers” who had been offered a 4% raise.
Because the workers accepted the improved offer, the planned strike for later in the month was postponed.
Unite General Secretary Sharon Graham said: “This is a major victory for our Metroline members who, by standing together and being prepared to take industry action, have secured a vastly improved payment proposition.
“This wage deal is a great example of how Unite’s commitment in prioritizing jobs, wages, and conditions for its members is delivering significant financial dividends.”
Unite regional officer Laura Johnson said: “From the beginning, Unite members knew Metroline could afford a better pay raise than they were offering, and once our members announced a strike, new negotiations were held and an improved offer was made.
