The Queen Consort spoke out about SafeLives and its sponsorship to combat domestic violence in a Good Housekeeping interview.

When asked about the best part of working with them, she said: “Without a doubt, spending time privately and under the radar with women, men and children who have managed to escape abuse and rebuild their lives.

Although their experiences are often deeply distressing, their determination to overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles is inspiring.

“I have been privileged to meet so many women and men who live in constant fear. These stories haunt me to this day. Time and time again, I have heard that what survivors want, above all, is to break the wall of silence.”

She stated that volunteers are vital to Britain’s survival. “Volunteers are often invisible and unknow, but they hold our communities together. I want to thank all the volunteers of our country from the bottom of mine for the hope they bring to each of us.

The complete interview, including words from Princess of Wales and others will be published in the Christmas & New Year’s issue Good Housekeeping, on sale Wednesday.
