Samuel Eto’o filming the African player in Doha kneeling on his faces. A YouTuber claims that the player became agitated after being asked about his bribery.
After footage of Eto’o, Qatar’s “legacy Ambassador”, angrily emerged from the Doha police station on Monday night, Said Mamouni released the video.
Mamouni’s social media accounts published on Tuesday contradictory explanations. However, he posted a video to his YouTube channel on Tuesday in which he stated that Eto’o had hit him in the chest and jaw.
According to a translation of this video, Mamouni (the Algerian) said that he asked Eto’o whether he had bribed Gambian referee Bakary Papa Gassama. He oversaw a controversial match in which Cameroon qualified for the World Cup at Algeria’s expense. The video’s title was “He hit me because he asked him about Jasama”.
The Algerian Federation claimed the refereeing of March’s Jassama 2 match was “scandalous”, but FIFA Referees Committee refuted this opinion.
