Ibercaja and the Aragonese Triathlon Federation have renewed this week the sponsorship agreement they maintain regarding the Ibercaja League of Triathlon Clubs, which since the 2018 season, brings together almost 40 clubs of this specialty in the autonomous community and is organized into three different divisions.
The League is disputed, through a points system, during the more than 30 competitions that make up the annual FATRI calendar, spread throughout the Aragonese geography, which are capable of calling up to a total of 6,000 registrations of athletes at the end of each season.
The Ibercaja Head of Institutional Business and Sponsorships, Fernando Arcega, and the president of the Aragonese Triathlon Federation, Jesús Sánchez, were present at the signing ceremony, the financial entity reported in a press release.
Fernando Arcega highlighted the importance for Ibercaja of supporting the sport of triathlon, “which brings together a series of values closely linked to sport, such as effort and self-improvement”. He has also insisted on “the modernity of a sport that does not stop growing and that has more and more followers for its spectacularity and the brilliant results of Spanish triathletes.”
For his part, Jesús Sánchez has celebrated “the enormous support and prestige that Ibercaja is the main sponsor of the League of Triathlon Clubs for the Aragonese triathlon”. He stated that the Ibercaja League project “does nothing but reinforce the enormous work that clubs, triathlon schools, technicians and athletes who practice our sport in Aragon have been developing for many seasons.”
Female presence
Both have also highlighted the organizational and sporting quality of the League, which has led to a significant increase in participants in general and the women’s triathlon, in particular, in the autonomous community.
The fact that the League’s scoring system brings together both the men’s and women’s teams classification has encouraged the incorporation of a multitude of female triathletes into the clubs in recent seasons.
These data are also endorsed by the composition of the new triathlon schools and school category competitions, in which the figures of male and female athletes of those ages have been equal.
The Ibercaja League of Triathlon Clubs 2022 is scheduled to start on January 22, 2022 with the celebration of the VI City of Fraga Duathlon.

League 2021
On the sporting level, with three days to go, the Ibercaja Triathlon League 2021 is about to conclude. Stadium Casablanca Mapei provisionally leads the first division, closely followed by Club Triathlon Europe and Octavus Triathlon Skoda Zaratecno.
The three promotion positions to the first division are currently held by Sport & Fun, Triathlon CC Oscense and Club Duatlón Calatayud, while the three promotions from the promotion league to the second division are currently held by CA Jaca Triatlón-Rest Biarritz, Correcaminos Alfindén and Bajo Gállego Triathlon.
