Real game
As a huge Dead Space fan I am looking forward to getting into Callisto Protocol this weekend. However, I’m not sure what to expect. This got me thinking about which horror game is the best, and not asking what’s scariest.
Silent Hill, Project Zero and Amnesia The Dark Descent are all very scary games. However, I don’t think they’re great on a technical or gameplay level. They are great horror games, but they are not great games per-se.
Resident Evil is the best example of a game I believe could be good even without any horror elements. However it would feel repetitive if there were always bad humans to shoot.
Horror games are unusual in that many things you would expect of a normal video game, like combat and controls, aren’t really necessary. I think that’s why I like Dead Space. It’s better at those things while still being scary. Curious to see what others think.

It’s a scandal to even hear about it Nintendo says no to a new F-ZeroBecause the developer was not big enough. But it would have if he had said no and given them a budget. It is hard to believe that Nintendo doesn’t apply the same logic to Game Freak who are, by all accounts, understaffed and overworked.
As others have pointed out, Nintendo should support the technology, but it shouldn’t stop there. Nintendo runs a tight ship. They know how games are made, how quality assurance works, and how to manage expectations. But Game Freak doesn’t.
Nintendo still has a large chunk of Game Freak. Why not invest more? Give them all the money they want and make sure that the games are as good as any normal Nintendo game. Unless there’s some legal reason that I don’t understand.

Choking
I am concerned about the impact this will make on publishers, as almost every major game was leaked and streamed less than a week before its release. They don’t like physical games and, while I’m sure that they’d be happy dropping them off completely, I don’t think they would go that far yet. I can see them making sure that every game is like Call Of Duty with everything stored on disk. This will ensure that they can’t do any other thing with them if they get copies too early.
The game can still be sold as normal, but it’s essentially a large receipt. It’s not perfect, but the stores do it. They should be aware that they are slacking off. It usually isn’t. But if every game has a story that goes wrong a week before it is released, what’s the point? It’s a very unfortunate situation.

Late achiever
In a great discounted Black Friday deal, I was able to get my hands on the physical Sonic Frontiers cart on Switch for just over £20. It arrived on Sunday, whoop whoop!
It’s just right that it snaps at random points.
He will ask, “Why did Sega take so much time to make a good 3D?” Sega could have saved (as it was in the Dreamcast era).
A side note: I am thinking about writing a reader feature on handheld emulator consoles. How would this stand up to the (usual) gray area of simulation?
Bad
GC:It is okay as long as it is officially published. Talking about ROMs and hacking is not allowed.

Count me as one of the people who doesn’t know what the fuss is with Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Although the graphics aren’t great, I wouldn’t call them terrible. Other than a few frame rate hiccups, I didn’t experience any performance issues.
Let me instead show you some of the new Pokemon builds. While the last few generations have been great, I love the Tinkatink Tinkaton version. This is a fantasy/fantasy concept with a giant Hammer and dolphin evolutions. It’s amusingly strange.
I find the pun particularly funny and have a good laugh at Annihilape and Fidough. It’s a great game and I’ll continue to play it for many more hours.

I have read This articleOverwatch 2 players get mad at console players who use a keyboard or mouse; It is always fascinating to read about XIM.
However, there are some things that aren’t right. XIM doesn’t allow mouse movement. Reddit users claim people can be 180x faster, but this is false. You can only move as fast you have the right analog stick.
PlayStation 5 users cannot use XIM if the PlayStation 4 version is installed. This negates the framerate benefits you get with PlayStation 5. For those who do not own the official license, you can use the XIM version that is licensed to them.
Hori Tac Master is a keyboard and mouse for PlayStation. It is also identified as a controller, and you will receive aiming assistance while using. It is a simulator. However, it is actually an analog stick movement that pretends to be a mouse.
Splitfish Frag FX is another option. You can use the mouse and nunchuck with this product. You get aiming assistance and it can be used with any game on PlayStation 4. It is standard DualShock 4 controllers and all games use it.
The main difference between these products is that XIM lets you use any mouse, keyboard or nunchuck. It’s more varied, but it’s still an official third-party version of the game for licensed consoles. It’s similar to Razer Raiju’s Scuf.
XIM can be used on Xbox because it is compatible with other consoles.
I use XIM. I have used it for years. I can’t use it on Overwatch 2 on PlayStation 5 so I’ve adapted again to the console, just like I did Battlefield. Split Fish worked fine, but I had problems with the mouse and switched over to XIM.
I hope this helps to bring some balance to these conversations because it isn’t the cheating device that people believe it to be.

Chatter
I see that the second trailer of the Super Mario Bros. movie is due to be revealed on Tuesday. So I’m excited for this one. I’m sure it will have Princess Peach, and other characters. But the real test is if we hear from Mario.
The first trailer was very limited, so we’ll now find out if Chris Pratt is a good casting.
To focus
Overcrowded track
With the news of Gran Turismo 7 potentially having a PC port, it left me wondering: Who’s this for?
Sim racing on PC has been well-established, even with Project CARS gone. Automobilista 2 is taking over with a wide variety car classes and tracks. Asseto Corsa Competizione can also be used if you are only looking for GT3 and GT4 racing.
There are also the original Asseto Corsa (RaceRoom) and iRacing (to name a few).
Project CARS 3 (which, I believe, is still available) basically copies the Gran Turismo formula for buying and upgrading cars – and we all saw how well it was received!
The GRID series is a lighter arcade-style option.
Mildly Annoyed and Ian Bell are also trying to start a new series of racing.
Sim racing is a very niche market on PC. Polyphony Digital may think that people can dance and clean because they have brand recognition, but that is not my experience.
It will be interesting, however, to see if anything actually happens!

Why has there never been a Pokémon suitable for a hedgehog? Shaymin is the only one that I know of. Is Sega obligated to not take this step?

Can’t say I got any decent packages during Black Friday. I wished for an Elden Ring but it didn’t change. I am not.

Hot topic for the week
Next week’s Game Awards will be the biggest venue for announcements and screenshots of new games.
It doesn’t matter whether the game has been announced already, as long there’s a reasonable likelihood it will be revealed next Week (we’ll call GTA 6 highly unlikely before everyone writes about it, but who knows).
What do you hope for in terms of the first trailer or the actual game? What game are you most excited about in 2023 and beyond, overall?
