Conservative MPs see energy as the next cause of rebellion after housing. Boris Johnson and Liz Truss, former prime ministers, joined the rebellion against wild wind, siding with those who want to remove the ban on new planning permissions.

It’s quite interesting, considering Johnson was never a fan at all of onshore wind development during his tenure as prime minister. He favored offshore development. Rishi Sunak will need to devise a coherent energy strategy for the country after the ban on fracking is reinstated.

Sunak has already stated that he will continue with the Ceswell C Project, the nuclear plant to go up in Suffolk. The chancellor has identified the £20 billion project as “the only way out of being at the mercy of global gas prices”.

It will also review controversial plans to build a coal mine in Cumbria. The decision on the mine is expected to be made by December 8th, after being delayed multiple times.
