Rishi Sunak, net worth czar, is the latest Conservative MP to announce his decision not to stand for another term in Parliament.
Chris Skidmore said that he would not fight to find another constituency in the event of expected boundary changes removing his Kingswood seat.
The 41-year-old Conservative MP is the ninth person to confirm their decision not to run in the next general Election, which is expected to be in 2024.
His announcement came just 24 hours later Minister DeHina Davison’s settlementGary Streeter announced that they were joining the Conservative Immigration.
First elected in 2010, Skidmore said: “With no alternative seat, I decided I didn’t want to fight another constituency anywhere else in the district or country, especially with a family so young that they deserved to see more of their father in their lives. “
The former science minister stated that he now wants to put the UK on track to net zero carbon emissions by 2050, while he reviews Sunak.
“I don’t want to be left behind, but I hope that I can continue playing my small part in helping to make the world a better place,” he stated.
Some within the party are concerned about the relatively young age of many Conservatives who plan to take off.
Davison, who was elected Bishop Auckland’s first MPP in 2019, is 29 years old. William Wragg and Chloe Smith are 34 and 40 respectively.
As opinion polls show, the Conservatives face a major challenge in regaining their popularity, the party is preparing for an ever-increasing exodus.
