TAccording to the Associated Press, Russian forces have intensified their strikes in a contested region in eastern Ukraine. This is in response to Moscow’s illegal annexation of Donetsk and the declaration martial law in Donetsk.
Pavlo Kirilenko was the governor of the region in Ukraine. He said that the attacks had almost destroyed all power stations serving the city Pakhmut and nearby Soledar. He reported late Saturday night that one civilian was killed and three others were injured by the bombing.
Kirilenko stated that destruction occurs daily, if it is not hourly, in an interview with state TV.
Moscow-backed separatists ruled a part of Donetsk nearly eight years before Russia invaded Ukraine in February. Russian President Vladimir Putin used the invasion to defend the separatist-proclaimed republic. His forces had spent months trying seize the entire province.
