Two days following the ceremony, the country will enjoy an additional bank holiday on May 8, next year.

It also occurs after a bank holiday who heldOn September 19, at the Queen’s funeral.
The Prime Minister stated that the coronation ceremony of the new monarch was a momentous occasion for our country. In recognition of this historic occasion, I am happy to announce an additional UK Bank Holiday in the next year.
“I look forward a gathering of people to pay homage to King Charles III by taking part in local and national events held in his honor.”
Oliver Dowden, Chancellor du Duchy of Lancaster, stated: “The coronation of King George VI is sacred and solemn, but also ceremonial.
“This bank holiday will allow people across the UK to come together as families or communities to welcome His Majesty to the throne, as we celebrate this significant day in our nation’s long history.”
