Bukayo Saka’s World Cup worries have faded as he returned back to training yesterday ahead tonight’s clash against Zurich in Dubai.
The 21-year old was forced to leave Sunday’s 5-0 win against Nottingham Forest. He had just 27 minutes left after he had kicked an ankle kick.
Arteta indicated that he could be in contention for tonight’s game.
“Bucayo just missed a session or two (training sessions) and was fine today.
“We’re using both our brains, good sense, and our brains. But he clearly took a kick. We had to decide to put him down. He was not comfortable with that decision.
Arsenal, who qualified for the playoffs will be guaranteed first in Group A and an automatically placed in the Round 16 if PSV Eindhoven’s results match Bodeau/Glimt.
The group winners automatically secure a place in Round of 16, while the runners up face one of three teams that dropped out of Champions League in February’s first-leg match.
Barcelona, Ajax, Bayer Leverkusen and Sporting Lisbon are among the teams that will compete in the playoffs.
Reiss Nelson, who was on the bench to replace Saka’s injured leg, scored twice against Forest to send Arsenal back to the top in the Premier League.
The contract of the 22-year-old will expire at the end the season, but he is eager to continue his boyhood club.
“Arsenal was a team I’ve been with since I was eight years old and I have a strong love and relationship with the club,” he stated.
“Of course, I only have a few months left on my contract, but at the moment, getting a new deal, of course, would be great and I would like to commit to the club.
“But I’m really focused on doing the right things. If I play for the team to win, it’s going to take me 5-10 minutes to get in and I’d rather play a lot longer.
“But any chance that I have, I’ll try and do my very best and continue to help the team.”
