sTonight, Joe Biden, a resident of the United States, will speak on threats to democracy. He is trying to raise the stakes in order to make it more difficult for voters to vote less than a week prior to the midterm elections.
The White House stated that Biden, who has repeatedly stated “Democracy Is on the Ballot” on November 8, will speak at Union Station in Washington, close to the US Capitol.
Anita Dunn, White House senior advisor, told Axios Wednesday that it was from Capitol Hill because there’s an attempt at sabotage democracy. This was in reference to the January 6 rebellion.
Reviewing Biden’s remarks, Dunn said that Biden “will be very clear tonight that he’s talking to people who don’t agree with him on any issues, who don’t agree with him on his agenda, but who really can unite behind this basic idea of the value of democracy.”
The speech comes just days after a man tried to kidnap House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Paul was severely injured in their San Francisco home and threats of violence alarm members of Congress as well as election workers.
“The threat of political violence that most Americans find abhorrent, and the idea that you are going to use violence to further your political means, it’s something that almost all Americans unite and we can all unite against, and obviously we’ve seen horrific things happen recently,” Dunn said.
