- The acquisition of Skagerak concides with the celebration of Fritz Hansen’s 150th Anniversary.
In time for the celebration of its 150th anniversary, Fritz Hansen, one of the main brands of W. Atelier, acquires Skagerak. The acquisition is part of Fritz Hansen’s ambitious growth strategy which started in 2019, with major investments projected to strengthen distribution across Asia, Central Europe and North America.
Fritz Hansen and Skagerak are leading manufacturers of high-quality furniture and interior objects. Fritz Hansen, established in 1872, is a pioneer in manufacturing furniture and fixtures with Nordic design and simplicity. Skagerak was founded in Denmark in 1976, upholding high standards in designing and manufacturing furniture.
According to Josef Kaiser, CEO at Fritz Hansen, “Skagerak and Fritz Hansen are a natural fit. Both are rooted in Nordic design traditions and responsible manufacturing and synonymous with furniture and interior design of the highest quality. With the acquisition of Skagerak, we can now offer our customers, private and professional, a larger product offering whilst strengthening our business in our home market as well as internationally. Skagerak is a solid business, shaped from many of the same core values as Fritz Hansen. We are delighted to welcome Skagerak to the fold.”
Like Fritz Hansen, Skagerak is committed to customer excellence and responsible practices. These standards shared by both companies can pave the way for a prosperous and beneficial future.
Jesper Panduro, owner and CEO of Skagerak says, “My wife Vibeke and I are proud to have built a strong business which cares about the world we live in, particularly the people we work with. Skagerak stands for longevity and responsibility when it comes to design and aesthetics, ensuring the products we make will last for generations. We are very happy to become part of the Fritz Hansen family and a company with an outstanding reputation, a strong culture and a long-term perspective. We have found the perfect home for Skagerak”.
Fritz Hansen’s acquisition of Skagerak coincided with the celebration of its 150th Anniversary. Founded in Copenhagen in 1872, Fritz Hansen has become an internationally renowned interior design brand. Collaborating with visionary designers such as Arne Jacobsen, Poul Kjaerholm and Hans J. Wegner, Fritz Hansen has shaped the Danish design tradition.
To celebrate its 150th year, select pieces of Fritz Hansen’s most famous designs will be reinterpreted using special fabrics, colors, and materials. The anniversary editions include Arne Jacobsen’s Series 7th, the Egg, the Swan and the Lilly chair as well as PK61 table in exquisite Norwegian marble.
Kaiser said, “Together, these pieces interpret the Nordic lifestyle seen through an international methodology, understated aesthetic, elegant and holistic. Ours is a story of exquisite design created on a foundation of craftsmanship and innovation. The anniversary designs convey the modern-day relevance of each design.”
Carrying the belief in Nordic simplicity, Fritz Hansen continues to inspire extraordinary designs and iconic furniture that bring spaces to life with its mere presence. These pieces are designed and crafted in quality to stand the test of time.
