Ekoten Tekstil Strengthens Sustainable Textile Manufacturing with AI Innovation

Ekoten Tekstil, part of Sun Tekstil and a leading force in the textile sector, is advancing sustainability through artificial intelligence (AI)-driven defect detection. This state-of-the-art system ensures top-quality fabric while reducing waste, supporting the company’s mission to make textile manufacturing more sustainable. By implementing real-time AI monitoring, Ekoten Tekstil enhances precision, optimises resources, and significantly lowers its environmental impact.

“Our AI-driven systems allow us to detect and correct textile defects before they lead to unnecessary reprocessing, reducing waste and optimising resource use,” said Sabri Ünlütürk, Vice Chairman of the Board of Sun Tekstil and Ekoten Tekstil. “This technology strengthens both efficiency and sustainability in our manufacturing processes.”

Reducing Water Usage in Textile Production with AI

The textile industry consumes vast amounts of water, with dyeing and finishing processes accounting for around 20% of global industrial water pollution. Ekoten Tekstil’s AI system plays a crucial role in addressing this challenge by detecting production flaws early, thus reducing the need for re-dyeing and reprocessing, which results in substantial water savings.

With global droughts increasing in frequency and severity, water conservation is more urgent than ever. The World Health Organization (WHO) states that droughts impact 55 million people worldwide each year, aggravating water shortages across industries. By prioritising efficiency and reducing excessive water consumption, Ekoten Tekstil actively supports global sustainability initiatives.

Sustainability Leadership and Workforce Diversity

Ekoten Tekstil’s commitment to sustainability extends beyond resource efficiency. The company has once again been awarded an A rating by the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) Climate Change assessment, outperforming the global textile industry’s B average and the worldwide average of C. Additionally, it has maintained an A/Leadership ranking in the CDP Supplier Engagement Ranking for three consecutive years, affirming its position among the world’s most sustainable supply chain leaders.

Beyond its environmental efforts, Ekoten Tekstil is dedicated to fostering an inclusive workplace, ensuring that women hold key leadership and production roles. This commitment to diversity strengthens the company’s long-term vision of combining technological advancements with responsible business practices.

“Innovation is not just about technology—it’s also about fostering an inclusive and forward-thinking workplace,” Ünlütürk said. “At Ekoten Tekstil, we believe that sustainable success comes from both operational advancements and a diverse, empowered workforce.”

By continuing to invest in AI, sustainability, and workplace inclusivity, Ekoten Tekstil is shaping the future of textile manufacturing with forward-thinking and responsible practices.
