UK Keeps Spain On The List Of Unsafe Countries To Travel

European citizens who are vaccinated against covid-19 will be able to freely enter France , without having to present a negative PCR test, as of June 9 . It was announced this Friday by the French Minister of Transport, Jean-Baptiste Djebbari.

The United Kingdom keeps Spain on the list of unsafe countries to travel
“We announce that as of June 9 (…) vaccinated Europeans will be able to come to France without a PCR test ,” said the minister in an interview on CNEWS television.

Travelers from the United States and the United Kingdom must present PCR even if they are vaccinated. This is reflected in a document of the French Government called ‘Strategy for the reopening of borders’ made public this Friday and in which the conditions of access to France by foreign visitors are regulated .

Thus, according to the Executive’s document, the entries of travelers to France will be governed by various modalities that vary depending on the health situation of each country of origin – classified by colors: green, orange and red – and on vaccination.

As detailed by the French Secretary of State for Tourism, Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne , in the BFMTV chain, to manage the entry of tourists to France, the Government has drawn up a “color code” that classifies countries into three zones. Countries in which “there is no active circulation of the virus or any worrying variant” will be classified in green.

Currently classified as ‘green’ are the member states of the European Union, Australia, Israel and South Korea . All citizens of these countries will be able to enter freely if they are vaccinated. If not, a negative antigen or PCR test will be requested 72 hours in advance.

Classified in orange are “most of the countries in the world,” explained Lemoyne. They are those in which “the circulation of the virus still exists although it is decreasing and where there are no worrisome variants”.

Here we find the UK and the US . To enter France, tourists from these countries must not only be vaccinated, but also present a negative PCR test of less than 72 hours or an antigen test of less than 48 hours. Otherwise, they will not be able to enter the country except for reasons of force majeure.

Finally, in the “red zone” are the countries where “the virus circulates actively and there are worrisome variants”. They are, according to Lemoyne, from India, Brazil and South Africa . Travelers from these countries will not be able to enter France or be vaccinated. They will only be able to access if there is a force majeure reason.
